The School was donated in memory of a young Italian university student, Emanuela Mazzola, and inaugurated by His Grace R.S. Ndingi Mwana A Nzeki in 2001.
“Only the person who is curious is open to learn from the reality around. We learn through experience in the presence of an adult. Thus, the first concern of a genuine and appropriate educational method is the education of the heart of a man just as God made it …..Its original relation to all this”.
-{Fr. Giussani, The Risk Of Education}
The School’s Logo depicts a mother accompanying a child to our school (recognizable by the shape of the three roofs); this refers to an episode occurred to an Italian priest, fr. Luigi Giussani, who used to go for Mass early in the morning, accompanied by the mother.
One day they both spotted a bright star in the sky (it was just before dawn). The mother suddenly pointed at it while exclaiming: “Look! How beautiful the world is and how great is God!”.
We believe that reality is positive and comes from God, the Creator of the universe. As adults, we accompany the children to discovering this positive meaning, as the mother of fr. Luigi did.
Emanuela was a twenty one year old architect student at the University of Milan, Italy. On the night of the accident, she and her boyfriend, together with their friends had planned to go and watch a movie in Milan. She rang her father to let him know that she would come late. Her father objected and asked her to postpone the outing to another day. She hung up annoyed, but five minutes later she called again informing the father that she had decided to come home as requested.
On the way home she met her destiny.
The school began in the year 2001 in a temporary structure and it has gradually grown over the years. In the same year a new structure was built and officially inaugurated and blessed by His Grace R. S. Ndingi Mwana A Nzeki, the then Archbishop of Nairobi.
All the facilities are universally accessible in order to cater for special needs children.
